MAT Conference 2012: This year the conference was held at KCMC Moshi from 19th to 23rd of November 2012; and the conference theme was "New Solutions to the challenges of Medical care in Tanzania".

The Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) was formed on 4th March, 1965 after dissolving the then Tanganyika Medical Association. The Tanganyika Medical Association which was formed in 1962 was a merger of the Asian medical Practitioners Association (1949) and the Tanganyika Medical Society (1935). There were 23 medical officers from Tanganyika practicing in the country before independence. The first MAT president was Professor A. Nhonoli.
