The Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) in collaboration with Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA) hosted The International Symposium on Climate Change and Health for National Medical Associations, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on November 5 – 6, 2009.
The meeting involved National Medical Association representatives from Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana and Tanzania.
It also involved environmental experts from the Ministries of Health and Social Welfare, Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Agriculture and Food Security and Tanzania meteorology Agency. The meeting aimed at sensitizing on effects of climate change on health and how different sectors can join forces to address the challenges experienced.
